Urban Intelligence® is the power behind Resilience Explorer®. A software, research, and advisory team, accelerating evidence-based resilience.

Urban Intelligence® is a small, high-performing team working to help communities and decision-makers understand and respond to climate and natural hazard risk. Our work is research-backed, technically rigorous, and directly used by government, infrastructure operators, and private entities across Aotearoa New Zealand and beyond.

What it's like to work at Urban Intelligence®

We are values-driven and mission-led, with big ambition. We stay close to the challenges communities and decision-makers are facing, and we move quickly to meet them. Priorities evolve as the risk landscape does, and that is part of what makes the work interesting. We work hard when the work demands it, and we protect space to step back when it does not. We operate on trust rather than time-tracking, and we give people real autonomy over how and when they get their work done. Around 25% of our team works remotely.

The bar is high here, because people rely on our work being right. Councils make planning decisions and communities understand their risk based on what we build. That responsibility is why we coordinate tightly, communicate clearly, and give each other direct, generous feedback. We expect a lot of each other, and we look after each other while we deliver.

We operate on trust and focus on outcomes.

Flexibility that follows the work.

Flexible hours and locations, with arrangements agreed between you and your manager.

High quality, high trust, high autonomy.

We hold a high bar, so we provide the trust and support for you to own your work.

Managers who help you grow.

Managers invested in your development and goals, not just your output.

Learn from world experts.

A collaborative environment where you work alongside leading researchers, engineers, and advisors.

"The pace, variety, and constantly evolving nature of the work is what keeps it so interesting. I get to combine my policy and advisory background with data and technology to help clients understand risk, make evidence-based decisions, and ultimately strengthen resilience."
